South Thassos
From Astris to Atspas
All of Thassos composes an interesting and mainly varied time travel through nature and culture. And like on any journey, there are separate sections composed of different environmental and physical characteristics. In southern Thassos, in the region between Atspas and Astris, including the surrounding areas, the environment stands out from the rest of the island. This environment gives a specific tone and diversity to local culture.
On our common journey, we will explore the individual characteristics. It is sure, of course, that any digital or printed feeling can be compared with the experiential exploratory view that overwhelms your mind when you experience that feeling during your visit to our island.
The climate, mild and dry, ideal for human life. On the one hand, it is due to the islands orientation, which allows it to receive the warm currents of the south and on the other hand, the mountain of Ypsario in the center of the island, which protects it from cold winds and inhibits a large percentage of clouds.
Endowed by nature, it has a proportionately abundant and morphologically diverse beaches. Small bays and long coastlines km long, sandy beaches, pebbles, rocks ... Cosmic or secluded, hidden and blatant, ideal for fishing and diving, for coffee and cocktails, the south of Thassos is really a destination ready to respond to any type of visitor's wishes.
Our report focuses on the waterfront and the impact the marine element had and still has in the history of society of the settlements of the region from Atspas, and the Skala Maries, to Astris and its small island called Astridiotiko.
